Digitalisation is changing our world at a rapid pace and presenting us with new challenges and opportunities. The latest issue of the ePaper „warum!“ - the magazine of FH Salzburg - highlights how the university is actively developing solutions to successfully shape this change and how innovative projects and collaborations are helping to shape the future and drive sustainable developments.
Digitalisation in retail
Whether in industry or retail, research projects in the field of IT and digitalisation combine regional relevance and international expertise. Whether for industrial robots or stationary retail spaces - the projects provide important impetus for the local economy and are particularly good examples of the networking of research, teaching and practice. One example is the Retailisation 4.0 project, which focuses on digitalisation in retail. By using state-of-the-art technologies, processes are optimised and new business models are developed to make retail fit for the future. These initiatives show how the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences is actively helping to shape the digital transformation and offering practical solutions to current challenges.
Circular economy and sustainability
The circular economy is a central element of teaching and research at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. In the magazine, we present the ‘CEFoodCycle’ research project. The team is helping to reduce food waste by developing food hubs and an AI tool for waste avoidance. An interview with the Chairman of the Salzburg Science Council Roland Wernik, a pioneer in the field of sustainable construction, provides an insight into developments in the construction industry and the cooperation with Salzburg University of Applied Sciences.
Gaming and start-ups, spotlights and success stories
Salzburg University of Applied Sciences is a training centre for the gaming industry. Many of the graduates found successful gaming studios, supported by the FH Startup Centre.
Outstanding projects by pupils and students are presented in the Spotlights and Stories sections. From an app for translating sign language and sustainable beehives to innovative communication concepts by students to raise awareness about HPV.
